During 2018, in the midst of figuring out and researching my own genderqueer identity, I watched 30-some seasons of the TV show Survivor. I started to dream about being a contestant but was unable to imagine how I could fit into the show's structure. Much of Survivor's formula is dependent on the gender binary, dividing contestants into "men" and "women." How would I fit into this reality TV survival competition social experiment? "Survivor Audition Tape" imagines a history and future of genderqueer existence within an institution of mainstream media.
