Sachi Nasatir

Sachi Nasatir is a certified welder with a degree in blacksmithing from Austin Community College.  They have been working with metal for about eleven years, and currently run their own metal working business called Sachi Metals, based in New Orleans, LA, which focuses primarily on lighting and kitchen designs.  They have completed residencies at Center for Metal Arts, as well as received grants from the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths, and worked as an assistant teacher for renowned metal workers Erica Moody, Haley Woodward, and Rachel David.  With a background in analog photography, architecture, and jewelry making, Sachi’s current work is made using primarily forged steel but also sometimes nonferrous metals. But, instead of identifying solely as one type of maker, Sachi likes to think of forging and welding as just tools in their tool belt, and often creates work using techniques, including but not limited to soldering, brazing, casting, cold forming, tinning, machining, 3D rendering, plasma cutting, stained glass and enameling.
