Description

In several mythologies from around the world and history, a messenger travels through the mortal world and beyond worlds, connecting the people to goddesses and gods. Half-person half-animal, the messenger is a hybrid creature who exists in the margins. Rock paintings depicting half animal-half human creatures in the Chauvet Cave; objects depicting jaguar shamans in Pre-Columbian cultures; and Mackandal with the ability to transform into a bird during the Haitian Revolution[1], are some examples of these messengers.  Xotrophos (from the Mayan Xoc for shark, and the Greek ánthrōpos for human) is half hammerhead shark-half human creature, an emissary of the waters who came to restore the balance between the aquatic worlds and humanity. Only together we can hope to stop the climate crisis and its negative repercussions all around the world.
