Description

When first reading the prospectus for this show, it caused me to reflect on the techniques that I have developed over the years. I decided to explore the design I envisioned by referencing multiple techniques I had never combined before. Using the nature of the triptych to reflect the same image across multiple materials, I hope the piece encourages the viewer to observe more closely the details and variations in the design and how the materials interact with how the images are explored.

Hope Gelfand Alcorn

Hope Gelfand Alcorn is a native Pennsylvanian, graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in social welfare; has an associate degree in Nursing from Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Dryden, NY; and has a Masters (MPH) and a Doctorate (Dr. PH) in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. She currently resides in Pittsburgh, where, by day, she works in medical research and, by evening, she spins a world of art.   Hope has shown her work in numerous juried exhibitions, and in local, national, and international settings. Locally, her art has been exhibited at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Brew House Association Gallery, Spinning Plate Gallery, The Mendelson Gallery, Robeson Gallery, HUB-Robeson Center, The Latrobe Art Center, The University Museum, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and the Harlan Gallery.
