Description
I am drawn to repeatable patterns and find potential in the order they present. These monoprints are reflections of my day-to-day experience living in New York City. The intimacy of sharing small spaces with 8 million people was constant and impossible to avoid. For many years, I located my personal autonomy by collecting remnants of the confusing chaos: geometric patterns from subway cars, tiles from bathroom stalls, and details of restaurant wallpaper. I archived and internalized these mementos during meditative drawing sessions, and then used techniques like stenciling to literally reveal the ultimate direction of the images. This iterative process of designing, plate making, and printing provided enabling constraints that generated new images, patterns and ideas.About this Artist
