Description

My dad and I used to gather red willow and weave willow baskets during the Winter, and some of my earliest memories of my maternal Grandmother were watching her naturally dye and weave baskets out of honeysuckle vines, and white oak. I have my art practice because of these loving memories.

I am fascinated and intrigued with the knowledge, the effort and the caretaking involved in basketmaking and within the weaving process. I think it resembles variations of the processes within bookmaking and printmaking, which is why I continuously choose to work in these mediums. I notice and appreciate how each step informs the next and that thinking backwards is essential to understanding the outcome. In each medium, problem- solving is inevitable and beautiful mistakes appear out of a well thought out project.
