Description

The Pittsburgh neighborhood of Oakland, inspired by numerous Vincent Van Gogh paintings of whimsical fields, clouds, and trees. Despite being an urban center for education, healthcare, and finance, green spaces like Schenley and Frick park dot the city and  create a necessary oasis. This scene depicts the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning, among other landmarks, rising above Panther Hollow. Van Gogh's work chronicled his subjects at work and relaxation, and Oakland perfectly encapsulates a modern and diverse neighborhood where both office workers and college students find peace in the shade and walking trails of the valley below.
