Description

Creating work for the “Inspired by Nature” themed exhibition was not a stretch for me since the natural world has been my inspiration for many years. Landscapes, imagined and known, have influenced my paintings because as a child and young adult I spent every summer of my life in the Catskill mountains and the Berkshire hills. And now, for the past 40 years, the beauty of Chautauqua and the surrounding area has enriched my life as well as that of my family. “A River Runs Through It” and “New Beginnings” are just two examples that celebrate the visual beauty and emotional impact of nature through painting and drawing. Watercolor is a challenging medium. But I have come to love the spontaneous effects of fluid washes combined with the expressive line of drawing. As the saying goes, “Watercolor is like life. Better get it right the first time … you don’t get a second chance!”

About this Artist

Lynn LeFauve

Lynn LeFauve

At the age of 17 I enrolled at Buffalo State College to begin my studies in Art Education. I had the privilege and honor of teaching art to high school students for over 35 years. I am proud to say many of my students went on to study in an art-related field. Here in Chautauqua, I’ve made many meaningful connections and friendships through teaching painting for over 25 years in the Special Studies program. Living in Buffalo and being a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, one of the oldest continuing Artist’s Associations in the country, I had relationships with some of the most gifted artists in Western NY.  I was inspired by them each and every day. I’ve always felt gratified to have a foot in both worlds: proud of my work as an educator and blessed as an artist.
