Description
My paintings reveal a deep connection to many species native to the region. Watching from high atop an open hillside as the night’s fog lifts or wading through luscious pools of greens and minnows these wild portraits convey my deep regard for the natural world. Through focusing on a single animal within a place, I can more fully relate to and convey their energy. In viewing wild animals such as heron, elk, or bear we consider the shifts they must endure across time and place. Yet these living subjects transcend anchors. They are a moving stillness-a wild grace. They exist much like color within a prism: there one minute and shifting the next. Their world is in the present microcosm woven to a localized and shared land, water, and atmosphere. My work aims to show the richness of their journeys through vibrant brushwork and relational color choices-each an open door. Through them we see hope and grace unbridled; We borrow their wildness if only momentarily.Contact Us
