Click HERE to view full video. “Drag Me Drop Me” is a video piece inspired by Kalup Linzy’s soap opera series “Conversations Wit De Churen.” In particular, I was interested in the spaces Linzy’s characters inhabit. As opposed to daytime soap operas which are filmed under bright lights and against minimal backdrops, Linzy’s characters exist in real home spaces with warm lighting and visually complex arrays of objects. This led me to think about fabricated sets meant to emulate home spaces used in soap operas as well as porn videos. “Drag Me Drop Me” includes backgrounds of manipulated stills of gay porn videos and their simulated intimacy.
