Growing up as a mixed Spanish, Welsh and Liberian woman- child of a culturally “white” mother and immigrant Liberian father- in a predominantly white and heavily religious town- Chloe King was quickly informed of all the ways she was and is considered an uncategorizable “other” within her community. Cousin Kedas Lotioned Legs is an in-photo collage that explores perceptions of Blackness through both a micro and macro lens. Using a wide range of printed and real props King draws attention to differing perceptions and expressions of blackness and their.
