Description

I make handmade paper pulp with recycled paper, glue and water in a blender, pour it on the wood surface and add material such as twigs and hay while the pulp is still wet. I gesso it when dry and then paint with oils.
Biography: I received my MFA from Old Dominion University.  For 25 years I was an art professor at Virginia State University, one of the first historical black colleges. I taught drawing, painting, crafts and contemporary art. I still keep in touch with several of my students.
I am a 5th generation Chautauquan with two generations after me. I own and manage the Cooper Historical Guest House at 15 Roberts. Cooper is my mother’s maiden name and my family owned the first Cooper on 7 Miller starting around 1880.
