Description

These photographs emerged as a visual response to my experience of listening to the radio about some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time—global warming, the catastrophic disintegration of the Larsen B Ice Shelf, the inexorable rise in sea levels, and the alarming accumulation of plastics in our oceans. These broadcasts served as a trigger and a framework for these imagined landscapes and seascapes.
The work explores the threshold between seeing and perception: that fleeting moment when an idea begins to surface but has not yet taken full form. The images are intentionally abstract, suggestive rather than literal, inviting viewers to enter a quiet space of recognition and reflection.

About this Artist

Mary Farmilant

Challenging the way audiences view and interact with the photographic image has prompted Mary Farmilant to create an integral experience where the viewer blends with the photograph.
