This piece was created a month into quarantine while I was still in New Orleans. My Instagram feed was full of sourdough starters and people thinking their home-cooked meals were revolutionary content. I kept hearing from friends that they still wanted to go on dates, and memes were circulating about finding ways to hook up in quarantine. People’s energy was being redirected and I think food started to stand in as a placeholder for person to person intimacy. That energy was being redirected into the kitchen which is when I started exploring the sexualization of food.
