CVA Lecture Series: Alicia Dietz, CVA Galleries exhibiting artist
June 23, 2025 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Specializing in solid wood and ultra-high-performance concrete, Alicia often combines the two disparate materials, creating a harmony that is reflective of her process and collaborative style. Previously a Blackhawk Maintenance Test Pilot and Commander in the Army, she understands that the same dedication and attention to detail required to fly an aircraft translates to building timeless pieces of furniture. She owns and operates Alicia Dietz Studios, designing and building custom furniture for residential and commercial clients. She lives and works in Richmond, Virginia with her partner of 21 years.
She received a BSJ in Advertising/Journalism from Ohio University and two Woodworking and Furniture Making Certificates from Vermont Woodworking School. She interned with Wendy Maruyama before receiving an MFA in Wood from Virginia Commonwealth University. Alicia has exhibited nationally and abroad. Exhibition venues include Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (TX), Center for Art in Wood (PA), Northern State University (SD), ArtSpace (NC), Salmagundi Club of New York (NYC), and The National Veterans Art Museum (IL). Dietz has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, Haystack School of Crafts, Appalachian Center for Craft, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond, STEAM Studios of UNC Asheville, and Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts.
