Description

My recent work involves transforming raw wool into felted images. For me the exiting aspect of felting is the transformation from raw wool to a sculptural object. The felt becomes scarabs, winged fantasy insects, dragonflies and faces. The images are embellished with beads, threads, fabric and found objects. I am also working with torn paper and acrylic paper on canvas. These paintings always have a focal point with a simple image that is altar-like. They pay tribute to the natural world.
I'm focused primarily on producing new work that allows me to showcase an array of exotic materials and techniques that extends the art of fiber.
I search to express my own story. The motivation is always in the next piece. This vision is always pushing me to explore. The why of the artwork is to capture color, light, texture and to pay homage to the image. I hope you can step into and share my experience. It just might be a little magic.
