SUMMARY:“Wallflowers” Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:“Wallflowers” exhibition opening reception July 24\, 3:00-5:00pm.The elegant sculptures of Rain Harris will be featured in this one-person exhibition. They are refined\, domesticated\, and shaped into formalized landscapes and still lifes. Set mostly in black porcelain\, Harris’s meticulously hand-formed ceramic flowers are composed in lush arrangements. This combination of delicate petals and flowers creates a visual hybrid of opulence and elegance born of high and low heritage. At the heart of Harris’s sculpture is an investigation of the ideas of beauty\, artificiality and preciousness. They owe their heritage to the 17th century Baroque and Flemish Vanitas tradition and to Harris’s experience in Jingdezhen\, China. \n\n\n\nCurator: Judy Barie\, the Susan and John Turben Director of CVA Galleries.Artist: Rain Harris
