Field Trips

In a typical summer season, part of the School of Art programming is to offer field trips to nearby towns and institutions, including Gardiner Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Burchfield Penney Art Center and more.

During our 2019 season, all of the Chautauqua Visual Arts mentors, makers, students and VACI Partners visited the Seneca Iroquois National Museum located in the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center, in Salamanca, New York. It was a wonderful visit exploring the history of the neighboring Seneca Iroquois nations and the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term connection with the museum.

We also visited the Erie Art Gallery for its first-ever LGBTQ Juried Exhibition of local artists, sponsored by the Greater Erie Alliance for Equality and curated by one of our mentors, Hrag Vartanian, and Sydelle Sonkin and Herb Siegel Artistic Director Sharon Louden. It was memorable, wonderful and a lovely event!

Check our Events page for more information on where and when we will be taking our next trip and join us!
